One of the most common questions we get about project management systems is how to import projects from one system or spreadsheet to another.
Makes sense. There are a lot of reasons you would want to import a project. Maybe you are moving from one project management system to another. Maybe you have some projects you’ve been managing by hand or in a spreadsheet and you are ready for a formal PM tool. Or maybe you received a PM template as a part of a membership or purchase.
Whatever the case, being able to import a full project, with notes and details included, is an extremely valuable feature of any PM tool.
Asana allows you to do this very easily and even provides tutorials on how to do it. My favorite way is to import a spreadsheet. What I like about that is how simple it is, that spreadsheets are very versatile, and you can truly include any information you’d like to.
There are a few things you have to make sure of before you import a project, and these are true regardless of what program you are using.
- Make sure your column headings are formatted correctly
- Include any information you’d like to have in your project
- Import
