As much as I love Asana I love using Asana with my other systems even more!
Asana is a powerful project management tool that has the ability to get even the most disorganized person organized.
What makes Asana even more powerful is integrating it with your other systems so everything can be used easily and smoothly.
One of my favorites is my Asana integration with my email program, in this case Gmail specifically, (There is also one you can get for Outlook that I use for some of my accounts)
Ok, let’s dive in.
Asana has a native integration with Gmail, which just means the systems work well together without any tech skills.
You just have to download the extension for your gmail and it will all take care of itself.
You’ll just have to log into the extension and then go!
Oh, and it keeps you logged in so you don’t have to log in again each time you check your email.
Pretty cool, right?
Let’s talk this through.
Let’s say you get an email from a client, a vendor, one of your coaches or someone else that means you have to do something.
Normally you would need to switch over to Asana and create a new tasks, likely switching between windows to make sure all the information you include is right.
Then you set up the due date, project, other details and save your task.
Now you’re good to go.
A totally workable solution that has worked for thousands of us for a really, really long time.
But check this out…
Once you install the extension you can take care of the rest without ever leaving your Gmail.
So you’ll get a little Asana logo in the bottom right of your Gmail screen, right by where you create new emails.
When you are in an email and you click the Asana logo a new window will slide in from the right side with everything you need to make a task from your email.
In this window you can select your project, due date, assignee, include the body of the email and anything else you can think of.
There are, of course, a few limitations, but honestly nothing that is too restrictive.
This Gmail plugin is a game changer.
It cuts your administrative time in half when you’re going through your inbox and making tasks, reduces the number of things that get missed, and helps you keep your word more often.
Seriously, this is one of the best free extensions you can add to your Gmail, you can add it quickly, and you will benefit from it immediately!
